Neulich las ich Freudensprünge über 30 Minuten Gratis-Internet am Frankfurter Flughafen. Phnom Penh und Saigon haben das schon lange, nur nicht für 30 Minuten, sondern unbegrenzt. Jetzt geht Bangkok noch einen Schritt weiter: Free Wifi in der ganzen Stadt. 40.000 Hotspots sollen dafür bis Ende 2012 eingerichtet werden, 2Mbit soll die Geschwindigkeit sein.

The overall goal of the WiFi program, which is part of the Smart Thailand initiative, is to cover 73 provinces across the country, providing free wireless access to 12,355 schools, 1,278 hospitals and 8,269 police stations and more, according to ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap.
